Servo Press-fit Machine CT-1025E

Press-fit technology is that inserting flexible or rigid pins of connectors into plated through holes (PTHs) of printed circuit board (PCB) without soldering. It is reliable and easy to operate.

Press-fit technology

Press-fit technology is that inserting flexible or rigid pins of connectors into plated through holes (PTHs) of printed circuit board (PCB) without soldering. It is reliable and easy to operate.

The basic requirement is that the diameter of press-fit zone must be greater than the diameter of PTH. During the press-fit process, there is deformation of the pin. Thus, the pin slides into the hole and is connected with the PTH tightly.

Advantages of press-fit technology compared to soldering technology:

•Prevention of thermal stress on the PCB for no soldering
•Eliminating pins damage or breakage,  solder bump or flux residue, etc.
•Avoidance of short, cold solder connection, corrosion, etc.
•Enable Plugins to connect with plugs directly, and no need for screws
•Connectors with long pins can be connected from the backside of the PCB, for no soldering
• Repairablity that the connector or a single pin can be replaced easily
• Stable and low contact resistance, good high frequency characteristics
• No need to wash PCBs and prevtention of pollutive substances for no soldering

3、Control modules

3.1   Closed-loop control module

Monitor press-fit process

1. Press head contacts the upper tool and push it;

connector is preloading;

pressure starts to rise.

2. The eye of the needle is deformed by push;

pressure continues to rise;

the pin is inserted into the hole of a PCB.

3. The deformation of EON ends;

the pin slides into the hole;

pressure starts to fall down.

4. The housing of connector contacts

PCB;

pressure starts to rise again;

the press-fit process ends.

Pressure/Velocity Feedback System (PVFS)

Pressure/Velocity Feedback System (PVFS) is a dynamic pressure feedback and control system applied  to the press-fit process. By setting sampling position and range, calculate the sampling pressure; By the sampling pressure, calculate the pressure to control the press-fit process.

Auto pressure sampling control

Auto pressure sampling control adopts dynamic pressure sampling control and fixed torque control, which is better than adopting max. torque to control press-fit process.

Monitor pressure vs distance change rate 

This module applies to the tough connectors that needs to be in contact with the surface of PCB tightly.Based on the measuring points, an upward curve (pressure vs distance curve) will be generated. When the connector ends moving, the pressure will rise immediately.According to the minimum upward angle of inclination, judge the degree of press fitting between the connector and PCB

3.2    Program edit module

Edit program: position and distribution, connector information, upper tool information, press-fit mode Edit modes: manual teaching function together with database Output modes: output a fixed torque, and set different press-fit pressure according to different connectors.

Edit pressure of different connectors and different positions: waiting position, speed, the positon of contacting upper tool, contact pressure

Edit sampling: sampling % end control, the start position of sampling, sampling interval, auto sampling control, auto calculating sampling % end control

Edit the speed of connector: the end position of press-fit
